The Dram Tram

1. See latest progress on the Dram Tram!

And it gets better inside!

Actually its not really a tram as such but our coach DTCL 56491 which has undergone something of a transformation!
It is now our Function Coach.

The carriage was not in active service for several years, but being in a very sound condition, it became obvious that it could lend itself as a useful addition to the fleet.
So, of course, on the ‘Whisky Line’, our passengers might well expect the enjoyment of a good old traditional dram.

The process of converting it into a travelling whisky saloon began. Seats were removed and interior walls stripped. It  followed a design conceived by our chief engineer Bruce, who has been ably assisted by others on the engineering and joinery team.

Our volunteer work force was bolstered by three young people who joined us through a Government apprentice scheme which made a big difference. The design features a snug and a larger compartment with a bar.

This coach will now play a vital role in the annual whisky festivals, in addition to being available for private hire. Sponsorship and donations, however modest, have been most welcome.

All sponsors (or as a gift or in memory of someone special) have been acknowledged on the item or within the carriage, and were invited on the inaugural journey.

Please send any sponsorship offer to: Mike Langford; Keith and Dufftown Railway Association, Dufftown Station, Dufftown, Banffshire, AB55 4BA
